Magic Pinwheels

Magic Pinwheels - for Picnics/lunchboxes (thanks for the recipe O- J and Jloved them)

3 cups organic self-raising flour
80g butter, cubed
1 1/3 cups milk - this is sometimes too much so add slowly till you have enough for a quite soft dough
200g feta cheese
270g jar semi-dried tomatoes, drained
2 tablespoons chopped chives
1 egg lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 200C, sift flour rub in butter. Add milk and knead until smooth, roll into a 1cm thick rectangle. Sprinkle with cheese, tomatoes and chives, roll up and cut into slices. Lay onto trays and brush with egg, bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden, cool.

A couple of variations on the basic idea I saw today in a magazine - use finely chopped banana and grated dark chocolate; or finely chopped apple (no skin, I'd probably grate) plus sultanas.
